Frequently Asked Questions

1. The insistence on making the humanities 'relevant'--isn't there the danger that you won't be critical of the agencies that fund your work? More simply, how do you tell that you aren't just selling out?

-This is a real concern. The simple answer is, we would rather risk getting our hands dirty than having no effect at all.

2. How do you know that the humanities will make any difference?

-Our approach is basically ameliorative. It is clear that facts don't change peoples' values; perhaps a conversation about values will be more relevant. In fact, this is really an experiment.

3. How can I get involved? Form a case study?

-contact Robert Frodeman at frodeman@unt.edu, or Carl Mitcham at cmitcham@mines.edu.
